The history of our beloved Haymaker drinks date back to colonial times, when farmers would be out all day under the hot summer sun cutting and bucking hay. They discovered Haymaker Punch, a refreshing and hydrating drink that was rich in minerals and provided lasting energy.
Folklore has it the farmers wives would make a hydrating mixture of water, molasses, apple cider vinegar, ginger and honey or maple syrup as a sweetener to not only quench the thirst of these hard working farmers but to prevent hay-fever and leg cramps.
These types of drinking vinegars have been called several names throughout history: shrub, switchel, swizzle, sherbet, switzel, sekahajebin, posca, sours, potables, gastrique.
The Health community including nutritionists and traditional doctors all claim vinegars help decrease muscle soreness, muscle cramps, increase energy, strengthen the immune system, lower cholesterol, decrease blood pressure, aid digestion and weight loss, among many other benefits.
We don't claim any of those, or that you will become a crazy Ninja warrior, be able to buck hay longer or become better looking… although, we do claim our Organic Haymakers taste ridiculously good and come in lots of delicious flavors that will make you, well… happier and super cool.
